No More Tail!

As of yesterday, I'm 9 weeks along. The exciting news in our baby's development this week is that it no longer has a tail! Phew! That's a relief! :) Also, the baby is now officially a fetus (instead of just an embryo).

I am incredibly tired all the time - in fact, I'm getting ready to take a nap in just a second - but I'm hoping within the next month or so that will get better. Can't wait til our doctor's appointment and then getting to tell the rest of our friends and family - only 5 more days! :)

Here Goes Nothing...

I never thought I would want to start a blog but, as it turns out, I do. For one thing, we have exciting news to share (we're having a baby in September!) and I figured this would be a good outlet to talk about it while we wait to tell everyone. Also, I thought it would be a nice way, once the news is out, to keep our family and friends updated with what is going on.

Yusaku and I tried to think of a cute name for the blog. We tossed around a lot of ideas, most of which were pretty corny. We finally agreed on First Comes Love because I thought it was cute play on "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby carriage." We've already crossed the first two of our list and are currently working on the third.

As of today, I am about 8 1/2 weeks along. It's been about a month since we found out. Yusaku had to travel to Japan for work for a week. I was going to wait for him to come home before taking the test, but a couple days before he was supposed to come home (Thursday, January 21st to be exact), I went to have coffee with a friend at Starbucks. When we got up to leave, I got incredibly dizzy and had to sit back down. This is something that doesn't usually happen to me. Somehow, when that happened, I just knew I was pregnant. I had been having a few other symptoms, but had kind of just brushed them off.

When I came home from Starbucks, I went online to have a video chat with Yusaku who was still in Japan. I told him I wasn't feeling well and kind of begged him to let me go ahead and take a test. He agreed, so while he was waiting, I ran and took the test and ran back to my laptop to share the results. Neither one of us could really believe that it was positive! Even now it still doesn't seem quite real, aside from the exhaustion, horrible taste in my mouth, and aversion to certain foods.

Our first doctor's appointment is March 1st - only 9 days away! I can't wait to see our baby, hopefully hear the heartbeat, and make sure everything is okay. I also can't wait until the first trimester is over so that I can have a little more energy, relax a little bit, and start to actually look pregnant.
